Default What's a good VAG scan tool for Audis?

Hi,
Would you share your experience with scan tools you bought and used on your Audi? what's the best (non-pro) scan tool you bought and were able to capture all codes from you car?

I have a 2002 A6 3.0, but am frustrated with cryptic check engine error. I like to see if anyone has picked a good VAG scan tool I can use whenever I get a check engine light

thanks
Joe

RossTech seems to be the tool of choice.

I use that but for a quick on-the-fly scan and code check I also use a bluetooth module (I just leave it plugged in) and the program called 'Torque' that runs on my Android phone. That one works like a champ and does both pending codes and logged fault codes. Also gives realtime computer readings.

Vag-com is the winner for everything though.

frankinstyn, what is the name of the BT module and where did you get it? That sounds cool!

This is the one I use but the program isn't picky so if you can find a smaller unit I would recommend that.

Here is the website for the program I bought. It only costs a few bucks but its worth every penny. I can pull the adapter out of my car and plug it in almost anybody else's and scan and clear codes for them as well. It will also look up the code online and give you the actual meaning.

LOL...the website shows supported vehicles...doesn't include Audi.

But it's prob an oversight since audi is OBDII compliant and you say it works on yours.

Default New here

Hello, I know this thread is for an a6 and I have a 2013 s5 but I haven't seemed to find any thread that helps and I was wondering if any of you guys can recommend a vagcom scanner instead of the cable and software that you guys have already stated?

It is probably the best next to dealer diagnostics.
