'06 A6 Avant MMI problems

My radio mmi isn't working and is completely black. when it first started the screen came on and just the audi mmi logo screen came in but after a while it would go black and nothing else functioned the entire time. I would turn off the car and turn it back on and the screen would do the same but a light thumping sound came from the speakers as if it was the amp trying to work but wouldn't. then a day or so later i turned the car on and nothing came on the screen was black and the console buttons don't function period but still you'll hear the light thumping sound as if the amp is struggling to work. Does anyone know what it might be? my feeling is the amp and i remember not long before the issues the left side (driver side rear) of my rear trunk panel where the amp is at had some water and i had to use a towel to soak it up. Do i need to replace my amp? is the amp capable of completely shuting down the MMI from working if it goes bad? It's a 2005 a6 3.2 liter quattro 4 door sedan

Will, the sedans seem to get hit by sunroof drain leaks. The wagons, like ours, suffer from a drenching by the washer fluid line. This happened to our '06 about 3 weeks ago. I had it at the dealer this week and they believe both the Bose series 6000 amp is out and probably took out the Becker radio. They proposed a fix at $3600.
I'm going to send the Bose to a repair facility in NJ that claims to have a near 100% fix rate on that component. He gets around $300 to repair your own unit.
The Becker radios can be had for around $50. No problem there.
Will, can you do a VCDS scan to see what's going on? You'd also want a scan of the optical network to see what's doin' there. If you want to stop by, I can help you.
I think I'm going to do the amp repair and buy a junk yard Becker and then quit. It could be the end of the line for this car.

Will, try not spamming the same thing over and over again and responding when people post advice to you - like on this thread you started and never followed up on: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a6-...stays-2912530/
Since, yours is a sedan, you should check if the BT module under the driver side carpet is wet. Since, what you've described tends to occur when the BT module is submerged in water. As uberwagen stated, clean your drain pipes in the sunroof and also, check the front cowl area of the car for any standing water and issues with water through the firewall.
Do a SEARCH for "cleaning sunroof drains"

Avant mmi fix
I had the same issue on my 06 a6. I checked all the fuses and everything was fine. There is a compartment in the back left side near the hatch. Inside is the amp and other components. I had a burning electrical smell. I pulled my amp and the amp was bad. I took off the cover and could see where it was burnt. Replaced the amp and everything worked fine

I made the mistake of using the rear washer yesterday and now MMI is unresponsive. If I try to reset using the 3 button method it will attempt to turn on but ultimately fails although a couple of times it came up but i was unable to change a radio station or adjust volume.
When i looks in the back there was liquid on top of the amp.
Any chance it will dry up ?
Has anyone had success sending their bose amp out for repair and if so, I would appreciate contact infor or a website.

I did indeed fry the Bose amplifier.
Luckily, I found someone who could fix it locally and he really hooked me up.
If you run in to the same problem and need your amp fixed do not hesitate to reach out to Ed at https://paulisoncorpserv.com
I went to him this morning and my amp is now back in my car and working great.
I will be disconnecting the tubing for the rear wiper this weekend.
I was thinking about doing the repair, but I'd rather do without the rear window washer than have a problem with the tubing in the future.
