Default 07 S6 - Car won't start with Engine Start button...

Am I doing something wrong? Just hold the brake pedal and hit the button right? Well, the car won't start that way. The key battery was low so I replaced it, but same is happening with the new battery.

This is a new car to me, so I am not sure if it is an existing problem. Is this an issue to A6? I will take it to the dealer, but its a Sunday. Any input appreciated. TIA

Default Start it manually with the key, maybe it will relearn with the new battery?

Never had it happen to me unless I left the key in the house.

Default are you holding the "Start" button for at least 1 sec?

Just a quick click (like a mouse click) won't do. You need to keep the brake pedal down and push the "Start" button and hold it for 1 second or so...

At least this was what was trippin' me up when I got my A6 4.2...

Default LOL

I was used to my Mercedes push button start which just required a tap. Seems like this button needs to be pushed further down for engine start. I love being a noob! LOL

I figured it out... need to press it down further and hold it. Yup. Thank You Sr. I was just used to my Mercedes push button start that requires only one tap.

Default The funny thing is I had the exact same "problem" when I got my A6

And I had to call my sales guy to find out I had to hold the Start button in...
So when I saw this post, I knew exactly what you were talking about. Gotta love Audis.

Default LOL... I'm just glad that everything works so far.

I am still in the stand-by mode until I have fun unfortunately. I have to examine every inch, sound, and function of the car until I can come to rest and finally enjoy it. But I'm getting there... and the car is much more than I thought it would be, so I am very pleased so far. The interior is no comparison to my late E55. Power output could be higher, but I knew what I was getting into. I just hope I do not get the mod-bug!

make sure you are pushing the button all the way down, i had the same issue, but i was not pushing the button the whole way down. push it hard, and see what happens.
