Is 2005 "crippled" compared to the 2006 & 2007
Is the 2005 A6 a crippled version of the C6? Navteq claims that the 2005 A6 cannot use the recent releases (v6 and 7) of the map DVD, but must use the version 5 instead, even though the DVD player was purchased new in December and is the same model # whether it is to go in the 2005, 2006 or 2006 A6 model years.
Audi tech notes discussing compatibility of the Palm Treo and the A6 indicate that the Treo is compatible with model years 2006 and later models, not 2005 and later. When I bought the Audi as a CPO, the salesman assured me (in writing) that the 2005 A6 electronics & MMI were the same as in the 2006 and later models, otherwise I would not have purchased a 2005. Was I misled? Any suggestions?

what you really need to do is update the MMI software - things start to magically work after that. I have a early 2005 C6 4.2, and practically nothing worked on it like bluetooh phone directory and really anything other then talking to it va BT - after all the patches and firmare updates now everything works - signal strength yadda yadda yadda. The NAV stuff I think gets patched too so you can use altitude and a bunch of other stuff.
When I asked my service guy about the V 7 nav stuff, he claimed it would work, but once you do it - you CANTgo back to earlier versions because it flashes the NAV units and DVD.
that's what Im told anyway. Get the Frimware Updates - STF for info on what to do - lotta info there. It's like a new car after wards.
