Ok.. The 4.2s have different vcds block to look for.. But if it's the same as the 2.4 and 3.2s...something way off with timing.. And fuel trim..?
Tried changing actuators/solenoid between banks?.. See if something changes?.. Same goes with cam position sensors...
(anyway.. The v8 I now little about.... Soo.... )
Cheers /H

Yeah... I don't think those blocks are for timing... looks like o2 sensors related.

Maybe this can help us out?:

your 093 is out of spec...that might be a contributing factor, but did your previously change the solenoids? https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a6-...nsors-2929458/

Raj, I have not changed the cam/valve solenoids. Left and right engine mounts were changed. I was thinking about changing the cam/valve solenoids next... do you know where they are located on the 05 BNK 4.2 and/or where I can find the proper procedure to remove them?

This does sounds like a timing issue...except there are no codes for timing out of range. When was the last time the carbon was cleaned off the intake valves?

The only carbon cleaning that was done by me was when I seafoaned the motor a few weeks ago. (This was after the issues had occurred)

Raj, I don't think those are related to the "Variable Valve Timing Solenoid/Actuator".

Today, I got a chance to check things out again. Managed to remove the bank 1 Camshaft position sensor... cleaned it and reinstalled and also found the VVT Solenoid. I tried the electrical shock method that users tried before. Pretty much I unplugged the connector and applied 12v and ground manually to the connector and listened for the actuator opening and closing. Supposedly the actuator gets clogged and stuck and by doing this, it frees up from debris. However, I don't know how to remove the solenoid actuator . If anyone has an experience of this please let me know.

After putting everything back together, I connected vagcom and cleared all codes, then started up the engine... it was like a dream come true. The car was running smoothly than ever BUT then after 30 seconds the rough idle started again. So, I'm pretty sure it's the actuator or the cam position sensor.

Camshaft Position Sensor

Variable Valve Timing Solenoid/Actuator

Camshaft Postition Sensor cleaned

I will be replacing the cam position Sensor and would like to replace the solenoid valve/actuator if anyone can guide me on the procedure!
