2005 A6 4.2 suddenly running rough

If the question was for me, then the answer is yes. I still have the car. It now has 202,000 miles on it. The problem was the passenger side upper chain tensioner, which had shed its plastic chain guide, which then promptly went into the exhaust cam sprocket, which jumped a tooth, causing the misfire and timing problem. This is unfortunately a common failure with this engine, which was used on the S4, C6, All-Road and A8 in that timeframe.
I pulled the engine, did a complete valve job, new tensioners and guides (updated parts), and the engine has been running great. Still burns a quart every 1500-2000 miles, but whatever. It hasn't gotten worse.
I have a failed AC compressor now, which I'll be tending to shortly. It's another typical failure on these and the S4, and much like anything else on this car, getting to the part to replace it is the majority of the work.
Yeah, I still love the car, despite its numerous flaws. The 4.2 sounds fantastic when you get on it a bit!

I love the 4.2 as well especially with my Flow Master exhaust.
My latest VCDS scan is very similar to the one you first uploaded... though others are saying it's fuel related.. fuel injectors, fuel filter, High Pressure Fuel Pump... etc.
