Default 2005 Audi A6 Upper Radiator Hose Replacement (Video)

My upper radiator hose nipple that returns coolant to the reservoir broke while cleaning my engine bay a while ago. This was probably weak for months or years and I never noticed. I barely touched that part and it exploded with coolant all over the place. If you believe your car is leaking coolant and you don't know where to start from, check that spot. I was able to fabricate a temporary nipple until the part I ordered gets delivered.
I also flushed the coolant and this video shows how to. It also shows how to remove the coolant reservoir and prepare a coolant mix. Enjoy!

I had to change that same hose when the same nipple broke on me while doing my hpfp replacement. It is a weak point, over time.....

broke mine off the same way, i just took the upper radiator hose off, ground the nipple flat and drilled the hole open to 1/8th npt. screwed a brass barbed nipple in using two part
epoxy on the threads, then a little bead of it around the bottom. 3000 mi so far and works fine. looks like it belongs there.

should have also mentioned that i tapped the hole after drilling it. the plastic is quite hard and holds threads
surprisingly well.

Did you pull the clips first?
No, I did not do anything else. I applied WD-40 lubricating oil at the base, let it penetrate for about 10 minutes then tried pulling again and I saw it move. So I wiggled it top to bottom, left to right until it came off. It will still be tight and you need to use force. Without the WD-40 it wouldn't budge at all.
