Default 2006 A6 4.2 blue/white smoke from exhaust

I bought a 06 A6 back in march and i just notice that the car will throw out a white/blue smoke after i have to brake hard or after going down a steep grade hill for a mile or two than accelerating after i dont know why this is happening it doesnt smoke on cold start and it doesnt look like it does it under hard acceleration so im kinda lost. i did change the oil when i got it and am going to again in a few weeks. it does loose oil but i would imagine that most of it would be coming from the valve covers that are leaking. it has around 122,000 on the motor. Any ideas would be helpfull along with any insight.

Thanks

valve guides/stem seals?
jake brakin' (compression braking with closed throttle) sucks oil past the guides. open it up and all that oil now in the cylinders rapidly burns off.

Hi OP

As I said on the v8 forum, and like everyone else, get the valve covers done and then perform a dye test to determine where the leaks are originating from... You won't need to guess what to do next.

I believe the OP is conveying that there is an exhaust smoke,, not an egine oil leak.

Yes and that may be the case, however there is obviously some kind of leak occurring which is creating the exhaust smoke and a dye test may help determine that.

Anything else will be much more expensive to rectify.
It's best to start by checking the most common & less expensive causes.

Since you have no records and no idea on previous owner and how they abused the car... Yes it could be a number of other issues (ie head gasket), but start with what I suggested and go from there.
