2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro Throttle Body Issue
Hi, I'm new to this site and I'm looking for some information.
Ok so I have a 2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro and my check engine light has been coming on and going off for some time now. It has stayed on the last couple of days so I took it to Pep Boys to have it looked at. After waiting over an hour I was told that there was an issues with my throttle body and that it needed to be replaced. The exact code that came up was:
P0068-MAP/MAF Throttle Position Correlation
I was told that the Audi dealership charges around $1,050 for a new throttle body (lucky me) and that I would also have to purchase a throttle body gasket as well. I called the Audi dealership to get the part numbers for these two item and did a little research online and found the throttle body for alot less then what the dealership wants for it. These parts are listed below:
Throttle Body: http://www.autopartsnetwork.com/shop...ster_cat_flag=
Gasket: http://www.partsvp.com/products/GASK...73%252dA).html
Will these part work with my vehicle model? Do you guys have any prior experience with these sites?
I'm pretty sure all of you guys know more about cars than me so I look forward to all responses!
Thanks,
Thomas

Hold on don't go jumping the gun just yet.
There are a few things you'll need to check first.
It's as simple as cleaning something or replacing a hose line.
Check this:
1) Check for vacuum leaks(this will set off codes like crazy)(diagram should be under the hood)
2) Clean the MAF sensor
3) Clean the Throttle Body (after cleaning do a Throttle Body Alignment)
Here a link to the Ross Tech site with the code P0068: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...2/P0068/000104
You should find a well respected Audi Indy shop near you, so they could handle the bigger job you won't be about to do(unlike the dealer charging you an arm and a leg to check). Don't get me wrong Pep Boys has a good shop, but they lack experience with some German car specially A6 and up(these engine are little more complicated do to the modules).
Keep us update.

Oh wow...so a simple vacuum leak could be causing me all these issues?!
I'm assuming that an independent Audi shop could do those three things for me. I live near Charlotte, NC so it shouldn't be too hard to find one in my area.
That's for the info....hopefully this will save me alot of $$$!

If it is the throttle body, I bought a used one from the site below for $55 and just used the existing gasket.

I agree with the don't jump the gun statement, there are a lot of posts on this forum regarding cleaning and re-adapting the throttle body.
With regards to cleaning the MAF, that will be a tough one, the 3.2 does not have a Mass Airflow Sensor.

Can any indy Audi shop take care of the re-adapting process?

Hi, I had the same problem as you late last year. I was able to remove and clean the throttle body by following directions I found on this site. It took less than 2 hours and everything has been fine since.
Best of luck.
