2007 A6 -- MMI reboots every 2 seconds
I've searched extensively and haven't found the answer...
The MMI in my 2007 C6 reboots every 2 seconds (3 seconds to reboot, 2 seconds live, and so on and on). A couple of days ago I noticed that the bluetooth connection stopped working and the radio would reboot every 1:58 seconds. So I played around, unpaired devices and now it reboots every 2 seconds. I have hard rebooted it a few times but to no avail. Even when muted and display tuned off, you can hear the CD changer reinitialize and the speakers click.
So I have no use for any of the functions now except that the NAV maps (choppy/frozen while it reboots) and the backup camera.
Any suggestions? Some posts say the HDD is dying but I'm not sure why it would be done so periodically.

Did the system reboot when you tried it?
You can try replacing the "5A Communication" Fuse on the side of the passenger side dash panel.

It sounds like it can't initialize, maybe one module is not able to communicate via the MOST loop. They are connected in series so if one module does not pass the signal on to the next, nothing will work. Do you have VCDS? That would tell you where the communication breakdown is. Also, have you changed out or replaced anything recently like Nav, CD changer, AMI etc?

I ran the VCDS and it gives me different readings. My guess is that it depends where in the initialization process the MMI is. At this point I think I need to disconnect each module and find what the culprit is. My suspicion is that it's the bluetooth module or the telephone module. I accessed the bluetooth module yesterday but by looking at it, nothing was corroded or anything and there is no visual indication if it works or not. When I removed the fiber cable, MMI stopped working so I know that it was keeping the loop intact.
For that I am told I need a MOST bypass loop. Can anyone suggest where I can find it? Also, what about the electrical connector, do I need to bypass the electrical connection, too?

I ran the VCDS and it gives me different readings. My guess is that it depends where in the initialization process the MMI is. At this point I think I need to disconnect each module and find what the culprit is. My suspicion is that it's the bluetooth module or the telephone module. I accessed the bluetooth module yesterday but by looking at it, nothing was corroded or anything and there is no visual indication if it works or not. When I removed the fiber cable, MMI stopped working so I know that it was keeping the loop intact.
For that I am told I need a MOST bypass loop. Can anyone suggest where I can find it? Also, what about the electrical connector, do I need to bypass the electrical connection, too?
