Default 2006 low mileage vs. 2008 high mileage

Which would you choose? I'm looking at a CPO '06 with 10000 miles, but have also seen a few non-CPO '08s with around 25000 miles. Both can be had in the low $30K range. Each would have 3 years warranty, but '08 would be all factory warranty vs. '06 with mostly CPO warranty. I'm leaning towards the '06 but could be convinced otherwise. Any other reasons to consider the '08?

Definitely the 08.

When you come to sell in 3 years time one will be a 4 year old car and the other will be a 6 year old car and things will start to feel old.

I thought you were going to say one had 30k miles and the other had 80k miles or something.

If you do 12k miles a year in 4 years time there won't be much in it, one will have 72k and the other 60k, however the newer one will appeal to more folk I reckon.

These cars can do 250k miles, so I can't see any reason to go with the older car myself.

wow, first read the title, I was thinking of a number somewhere above the 40k range. If it's 25k vs 10k and both is relatively similar pricing then 08 is definitely the answer. If you are fine with 06, definitely try to search for more, I bet you there are more out there with low mile, and very low price.

Also look at the options. Ipod connectivity was available in 08 so that could be a deal maker. Retrofitting is expensive as we all know on an 06.

I should go for the 2008, in the end its a much better deal... and 25K is nothing... Good luck!

You guys are absolutely right- the mileage isn't that different. I think my real hesitation with the '08s is that those in my price range are being sold by "traditional" used car dealers. Whether real or imagined, I do feel a little more peace of mind buying CPO from an Audi dealer. I would also feel pretty comfortable buying from a private party, but those just don't seem to be around.

Surely at a year old it is still under manufacturers warranty?? So what does it matter if it is private, independent dealer or main dealer, surely it makes no difference at all??
