Default 2007 A6 Bluetooth Pairing

I've had my '07 A6 since late December. Until a week ago, the pairing between my LG VX8350 and the car worked perfectly. It would auto pair whenever I got in the car, and the user interface worked well, pulling contacts and other call lists into the MMI. About a week ago, this quit working. I can still get it to pair, but I have to enter the PIN 2 or 3 times, with lots of keystrokes answering "yes" to various questions, and eventually it will pair. When it does pair, it works perfectly again. Any ideas why I now have to do all of the manual labor to get pairing to work?

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps delete the current pairing, do a "hard" MMI reset, then pair it up again?

definitely delete the pairing on both the car and the phone and re-establish.

I've done the "delete" device, on both phone and car, to no avail. I think I've tried it a 1/2 dozen times or so.

What is this about an MMI reset? I'm not sure I've done that, unless it is simply turning the key off and back on.

I got the same behavior when I attempted to pair my wife's phone, which I had never paired before when bt was working well.

The dealer says it is because the VX8350 is not supported - per the list of supported phones.

Default I have the exact same phone and issue - Here's my work around:

My phone will pair up once maybe two times after I reset. After that, I must turn the phone off, then on again.

If the car was off when I cycle the phone, it pairs fine every time when I start the car (phone on).

If the car is on when I cycle the phone, I go to the phone's Bluetooth setup and manually pair it.

Before I redid my MMI, I never, ever, had an issue. This process is a pain, but it works. I'd much rather just turn my phone off, then on every once in a while than deal with the stupid lawyer screen.

Good luck

BTW, I'm going to see about the latest MMI update on my next service in about a month.

John

RTFM, requires holding down a combination of buttons, STFA.

Default Reset didn't help

Tried hard reset to no avail. This is strange. I'm sure there's a way to make this work again short of changing phones. A couple of interesting points -
> Once "paired", I can unpair & repair w/ no
problem from the phone, as long as I leave
MMI on. Once I turn MMI off, gotta start
all over.
> I keep getting "Pairing request from Audi UHV
1682", but the name that appears in my phone
is "Audi UHV", even after I "remove device"
then go thru pairing again.
> I get "paired successfully" msg, followed by
"Pairing request from...".

Johnstay - I'm glad to find someone with the same issue. Unfortunately, I don't understand your description of the workaround - I'm a Texas Aggie, what can I say?

I can't every get my phone to pair without re-entering the PIN at least twice, and answering a bunch of "pairing request" yes/no questions. Specifically what do you do to get the phone to re-pair without re-entering the PIN? In general, I shut off the engine, then if I restart the car, a manual pairing is required, all this without turning off the phone.

Default It's in the phone.....not the car.

Once you have successfully paired up with the car just once, you never have to pair the car with all the codes again (at least with mine). All the work is in the phone. Follow me step by step.

With the car on (phone in car).
1.) Turn the phone off.
2.) Turn it back on.
3.) select tools icon (top right - wrench and hammer image ), Bluetooth option (#7).
Scroll down to Audi (mine says Audi UHV 1427). Press okay.
4.) Wait about 5 seconds then close the phone lid.

It should be paired.

Let me know if that worked, If not, remember this:

Car = $50K, Phone = $50. Get a new phone!

Good luck,
John
