2007 S6 Coolant Leak
Hello,
Just bought a 2007 S6 a couple of weeks ago. The previous owner had an extended warranty on it and took it in before he sold the car to me to ensure that everything was good. Long story short Audi had to pull the engine because the upper oil seal was leaking. They repaired it and all was good. Just this week I noticed a coolant leak. I took it in and dropped it off & they explained to me that I don't get the extended warranty. I told them that they just did a lot of work on this car and now there's a coolant leak. I just want them to back their work. My question is am I asking too much and am I going to have to pay for the repairs or is Audi going to take care of me? Thank you for any help.

It probably depends on the source of the leak. If they see that it’s a hose which they had taken off which is leaking because it wasn’t clamped correctly when it was replaced, for example, then you would hope they will be honest enough to cover it. If it’s a leak which has developed independently and it’s coincidental that it presented itself so soon after their work, then yes it sounds like it will be your problem.
I’m not sure what “upper oil seal” you’re referring to. Can you be more specific?
If I were you I would be asking them to provide a very detailed description of where the leak is, then cross check whether that part of the engine would have been touched in their previous work.

Yah I'm hoping that if it's a line they messed with during the engine removal & installation that they'll be honest. I've been trying to find a manual that will show me everything needed to disconnect to remove the engine so they can't BS me but have been unsuccessful so far.
I'm not exactly sure what "upper oil seal" they were talking about either? I'll ask when I talk with them. They're supposed to get back to me later on today with an update. Apparently they only have one technician that is certified to work on that 5.2L V-10.

Well just got the car back yesterday. I'll give it to Audi they owned up to messing with a coolant line during the engine removal & installation. They didn't charge me a dime.
