2008 A6 AMI MMI Ipod retrofit
My first post. Sorry if I am asking about something already covered (please point me to the correct thread/link if the answer is posted out there).
I just got a pre-owned 2008 Audi A6 3.2 S-line with Home Link and MMI (no navigation) with the cd changer in the glove box.
I want to add an Ipod adapter but do not want to buy the wrong one. I can get an AUDI MUSIC INTERFACE iPOD KIT P/N 4E0 057 785B, but cannot tell if this is the correct item. I also have seen references to the Denison GW51MO2, but the Denison website says it is not compatible (other users say it is). I also saw a product from mObAudio-AUD, but I don't know how this compares to the other two.
I need to know what I should buy to get my iPod working with the 2008 A6 MMI. Which is the best product? And how difficult is the install???
Thanks in advance for any help you experts can give me.

Re: bad deal because it's a very easy DIY
I would stay with Audi product. It's a little more expensive but it's fully integrated into the system + the OEM look is always the best. As long as you can get your hand on the AMI kit, everything else is very easy. You can either follow a guide up here to open up the glove box or go upon ebay, there is one guy selling these kit. He has the instruction.
BTW, how much are you paying for this? I also want one more. The lowest now is 600 shipped.

Thanks much! I have seen it in two places for $624 plus shipping (although the eBay item may be negotiable). So your price is better. Will you share your source?

Try negotiate on Ebay. That's how i got the price a little lower... I got so mad at my dealer for quoting the pric of 1100 without installation. These guys are really desperated for the money now.

I installed recently in my 2006 A6 MMI with no Navi and I have full control of the playlist and song selection with the MMI wheel - it works flawlessly and can be installed by a novice in a couple hours.
Don't believe the AMI hype - I don't believe it is a superior option.
Here's a link to my install directions (posted in the Audio forum here)<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/audio/msgs/62424.phtml">Gateway 500 install</a></li></ul>
