I have 2007 S6. Had the same problem. It was slowly losing coolant and in the summer there was coolant odor after parking the car in garage. No fluid under the car and no visible leaks anywhere in the engine bay.

It turned out to be bunch of microscopic cracks on the tank caused by heat from the engine. If I remember the replacement tank was around $30 and pretty easy to replace. If you search forums you will find out that this is a pretty common problem.

thank you. I believe it was replaced within the past year, but you never know. Getting it checked out thursday at dealer.

Got it checked out at dealer..they pressure tested and could not find any source of leak.
Not much i can do but keep an eye on it.

I say just replace the coolant tank. I had the same issue. Tank only cost about $35 and 30 mins of your time.

Yea, except that it's been changed within the past year. Unless the heat stress on the tank is that extreme in the V10.
