Hi all,

I’m considering buying a 2009 A6 Avant which has the 2.0TDI BRE engine and 120k on the clock.

Am I right in thinking this is the PD engine?

If so, is this an avoid at all costs ticking time bomb of an engine or had the oil pump issues etc been resolved by ‘09?

I’ve done some reading and opinions seem to be very mixed... Are they as bad as some people say and is it worth just hanging on for a later CR model or are they perfectly good?

I’d also be interested to know if anyone knows the costs involved in getting the oil pump drive replaced by one of the better after market options?

Any advice and real life experiences would be very gratefully received.

That's a facelift right? As far as I know they all have the CR engine but the 2009 ones do have the hex77 problem. Fixing that before it goes isn't ridiculously expensive but if you ignore it, it will be.
