Default 2009 lane change assist Control Module 2

Anyone know where this module is located? Got a failure the last two days and VCDS tells me the module is defective. Anyone know where it is located?
TIA
AJG

Did you ever figure this out?

I have the same year A6 as yours. The DTC is a result of a failed side assist module located in the rear bumper(there are two of them in total). I know one of them is bad, but don't know the way to narrow it down. If I pull the driver side(slave), I still get the code. If I pull the passenger side(master), I can't reach the modules. If I swap them to opposite sides, same thing, no reach.

My best guess right now is that it's the master module. However, is the code a result of the module being reached but then a detection of an electrical fault? Or is the code more generic in that whether it's defective or just not there, the same code will result? Also, from what I could gather, CPU 2 could either mean master or slave?

16365 - Control Module - Electrical Error; CPU 2
014 - Defective

Fault Priority: 3

It's either the wiring or the slave module behind the driver side rear bumper cover in my case - best bet is the module. Module itself is the most expensive (there's a surprise) - the slave being more expensive then the master (different part numbers also) and this version the most expensive of all from what I can tell. Audi wanted $1500+ to repair which involves taking off the bumper, replacing the module, and re-calibrating with a mirror setup. I was told the module has to have a specific SW rev. Car has never been hit in rear so I'm guessing mine is a module failure.

Here's the crazy thing: There dozens of these things for the Q7, A8, newer A6, etc, etc on ebay that are selling between $50-100. So the question I have is does it matter the actual part number so as long as the software # matches? I read on this page that as long part number and software number match, no calibration is necessary. But my money is somewhat on that the part number itself doesn't matter so much as software number.

I'm going to reach out to @dukesean and see if he knows more on this.

Post what you find out. I want to repair mine if that works. I got used to the feature and miss it but don't want to drop 900 for a new module. Meanwhile, I'll start looking for how to remove the rear bumper cover.

You all get it figured out? My Lane change assistance control module 2 has failed on my Q5 TDI and I prefer not spending thousands of dollars to get lights to show on mirrors.

Thanks
Thom

Yes. Purchased a used slave module on ebay for $100 with the right PN and Software code. Easy install and system works like a charm. I did not take it to Audi to have it "aligned" and it seems to pick up vehicles just fine. Installed it in my A6 but I think the part was out of a Q5 so there is some commonality. Did not have to remove entire bumper cover on the A6, just the one side and bolts on the other. Then was able to swing out the bumper cover enough to easily change the slave module. Only problem I had was putting it back together with the mud flap screws being so rusted.

Don't know about the Q5, but on my A6 the slave module was on the driver's side. Kind of surprised me as I would also have figured it to be on the pax side. Below are the details from my VCDS scan. I verified the location with a friend at the dealer after looking at my old Bentley. If you search the forums for J770, there are a number of posts of interest. I would only suggest that you make sure the SW and HW are an exact match.
