The last few times that I have driven my '07 A6, the key has gotten stuck in the ignition. It usually takes several minutes of messing around with the steering wheel and putting it in park and drive, etc. before the key will release in park. Has this happened to anyone else. Is there an easy solution that I don't know about?

Hey man i have a 05 a6 and when I tell you i had the EXACT same problem I did....I had to replace the key and the ignition switch ,only reason why I had to get a new key is because when I brought the car only one key came with it. However if I am not mistaken the dealership charged $300 for the new ignition switch but that is what you will have to do to solve your problem...As for me with the new key and ignition switch I have not had any problems so far (knock on wood) I hope everything works out for you too

Thanks for the help. I have a second key, so hopefully its just a matter of replacing the ignition.

I had the same problem. The Tiptronic shifting assembly is out of alignment and the ignition interlock is not releasing when put in Park. Simple mechanical adjustment is needed.

If you have some mechanical skills you can do it yourself. To get to the assy you need to take off the center console.

Take a look at the TSB library linked in my signature. There is a TSB on the problem in the ignition section.

I have an older A8 1997 and it was a simple fix, just replace the ignition switch.

I had the same issue but my car just would not recognize it was in park so it wouldn't
Release the key. The dealership had to replace a sensor to fix the issue.

I have an 07 A6 as well, never experianced that ever BUT it happened to me in a A4 loaner, I had to play with the steering wheel just like you did and it let go...very strange problem

Sensor in shifter assembly. That was hapen once to me. Moved car forward and back, select parking, drive and rear and key came out. Never hapend again.
