How much should I expect to pay for rear brake pads + work?

rears shouldn't be that much... but i would check to see if you really need to replace them. most of the time rears will last 50K+ while the fronts may only last 30K... you have to remember that cars now days have front-bias braking 60/40 or 70/30...

when i had my front and rear done at the dealer last year it was around 850 so you figure 300-400 for rears only.

u shouldnt need new rotors yet. but if u do, that price seems kinda high. google import replacement parts. they have awsome prices on oem as well as aftermarket brake stuff.

Here is what I found!...Labor alone will be around 100 dollars an hour.Parts will be another issue. For frnt and rear you will be in the vicinity of 800 to 900 dollars,Thats at AUDI.Find a good mechanic, shop for parts on the web.You will undercut Audi every time. You can buy rotors through www.partsgeek.com.I got a pair for my A6 for the rear about 110.00 dollars.(302x12mm.)

Zimmerman and Centric's are for the most part OEM on Audis. If you want to upgrade, their are a few others.Stoptech ,Rotora AND OTHERS.Akebono ceramics are available with Sensors..at www.placeforbrakes.com......Great prices and honest.
Do research on the Web,Save some money!
I live in New Jersey,my nearest dealership is not cheap.Good luck!Let me know how you made out.EL

I just had my 05 A6 inspected and was told that the rears failed. I was quoted $750 for pads and rotors. I passed on the brake job. While waiting to get my Audi back I called another Audi dealer and was quoted $520 for the same job. I called an independant Audi/VW shop and was quoted $300.

The best part of this was when I went to pay for the work done, the service tech proceeded to tell me that only and Audi dealer could perform the brake job due to the magnetic parking brake. If I tried to have a brake shop do the job they would damage the parking brake. I calmly told him that the only work I would have performed there was warrenty work due to the fact that they are about 30% more then a neighboring Audi dealer.

I then spoke to the General Manager about it. What a bunch of CROOKS dealers can be.
