A6 C6 trepidation while braking/uneven grip
Has anyone encounter this? What is the solution?
I am getting trepidation while braking. I replaced the disk and brake pads rear and front approximately 2 years ago. All good, no issues. Recently the brakes started developing an uneven grip although still in good condition. The best way to describe it is like having half of the disc greased, this would be noticed at low speed, before stopping. While braking at high speed I am getting a lot of feedback (trepidation) through steering column. My impression is that it comes from left front wheel.
I have taken the car to a garage and had the suspension checked, no issues. Could be the brakes?
Any similar experiences?
Thanks

sounds like one of the pistons in the caliper may be not fully working. Take your car to a brake shop and have them do a once over and you may have air in the lines so a full fluid swap and bleed may be needed

"Trepidation" Do you mean pulsation? As in the brakes hold irregularly as rotor revolves? Causes a shaking of the steering wheel when braking from higher speeds? If so that is due to pad material transferring irregularly to the rotor. Often labeled as warped rotors but really not that. It can be corrected by having the rotors resurfaced or replaced. Sometimes you can correct it bu rebedding the brakes ( multiple (6-8)hard brake applications from 60 mph to 5 mph till brakes are very hot, then a 15 minute gentle drive to cool off then repeat.) It is usually caused by long or hard braking heating the pads beyond their designed MOT ( maximum operating temperature).
