About to purchase an avant, question about Bluetooth...
 

I found the compatibility list on audiusa, and it seems somewhat limited - especially for verizon wireless. I was under the impression that Bluetooth was a standards-based protocol; bluetooth should be bluetooth.

Are there other phones which work fine with the A6 bluetooth, and maybe Audi has only tested the shortlist on the site? http://audiusa/bluetooth

Any VZ users have any success with a simple phone with bluetooth? I want a phone which is just a phone. (I like my current Moto v325)

there is no BT standard. for VZW:
 

E815 works perfect, although call replace isn't reliable via the car, so use the phone to switch calls.

V3m doesn't work well. I think the phone would crash every time I tried to dial through the car.

Using a Sprint 8830 BB at the moment, and had some issues with entering a conf code after joining a voice conf line. Also, it makes a loud noise when initiating a call.

The only advice I can give you is to make sure the Avant is on the latest MMI (33.6.0) before you take delivery, so include that on the Bill of Sale to make sure. The TSBs are in my sig if you need documentation.

Moto v325 doesn't have Bluetooth
 

but you probably already know that. As Pierreb said, the E815 works fine even with 27.4.0 but did not have full features with the SW that came with my 05 in case you are buying used. I'm afraid that if it is not on the list, you will have to just try it and exchange if it doesn't work.

Moto razr v3m works great.

Verizon Treo 750wx works OK
 

Not as good as old RAZR ...for some of the features-- but decent

Do your contacts appear in the car's MMI?
 

I can only get 8 "favorites" to appear in the phone book section and none in the Directory of mine. I'm about to replace my Treo 650 (verizon) and am hoping for some improvement.

That is why I am looking at a new phone, and the E815 is not offered anymore...
 

I never use the camera or SMS. - even the v325 has extra features.

Maybe I will try to pick up an unlocked E815 from ebay and try to activate...

what firmware version? the one I had with latest would crash when using MMI dialing...
