Default Adaptive lights question on 2005 Audi A6

My left side headlamp has defective adaptive feature.
i get an an error on my dash and cannot clear this code.
This is on a 2005 Audi A6 3.2 quattro and has regular suspension.
Is there a way to disable the AFS feature with Ross Tech VAGCOM?
I bought only the left headlight which is xenon with AFS and would
prefer to not install as one will look old and the other one will look new.
Please someone knows, let me know.
Thanks so much.

Mine came on recently, then went away and has yet to return. Don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I dont think you need to change the whole head light assembly, just either the control module or the control box. Now which one is a good question, i need to do some research myself. My auto leveling works just the directional beaming has fault.

Default Question on xenon headlamp error in 2005 Audi A6

I have the following error. The low beam works fine except I get an error message on my dash saying Adaptive light failure. My wife had taken the car to the dealer and they said that the headlamp needs to be replaced on the driver side and cost is like $1250. I ran the diagnostics with Ross Tech VAGCOm and have the following diagnosis. Do I have to replace the whole headlamp?

I have this issue. My drivers side light is defective for cornering, which is fine for me, but I would indeed like to avoid the error. Does anyone have a software fix?

Default Defective AFS

No way to fix it with software. There is a control module and make sure that the wires going to it are OK.
In my case, the headlight had bad AFS. I bought a used module and did not fix it. Replacing the headlight, fixed it.
But there is no way to get rid of the error with VAG COM software.
Good Luck

Yuck. My Audi dealer thought the motor that runs the light is busted. Did you go the full $1500 replacement or do something else/used/etc?

Default Regarding AFS xenon headlamps

I bought bith sides brand new on ebay with AFS feature for $800.
As I did not want to replace one side, and the other side looks old.
I did it myself.
Remove the front bumper and then it is not terribly difficult.
Used VAG COM and follow the procedure.
So, for $800 and a few beers and patience. took me like 3 hours
to do the whole job.
No more errors
Good Luck

I wish your passenger side was what was defective, as my driver's side is defective as well. I suppose if someone has this issue on the passenger side, you might be able to work out a deal with them on that part. Thanks for all the info.

If anyone has an idea about how to get a motor that is part of the headlight system, I would definitely be interested!

Default AFS fix for 2005 audi A6

The inside of the headlamp for AFS is quite complicated.
I already sold my other 2 headlamps on ebay.
Cheers
