Aftermarket bumper covers, any good?
Looking to replace the front bumper cover of my 09 A6 and as the OEM prices run around $900 I'm wondering if anyone has any experience
with the Eastern European/Lithuanian ones listed on eBay for around $260.? https://www.ebay.com/itm/322049341476 eBay states the vendor has sold over 50 of them so far so someone out there must have some experience with them. Finding the price hard to believe as shipping is included (!) |
let us know if you end up buying one. i would like to replace mine with that style cover, but the only place I found one was Germany and
they want a fortune to ship to the U.S. that's great deal if it's for real. |

Looks like I found someone who bought one but didn't have a great experience trying to fit it: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AUDI-A6-C6-...s/192955455568
" *****I bought this from the person in Lithuanian, who has 10 for sale, unfortunately, it doesn't fit a 2010 A6 Quattro 3.0, so if that is the model you have, it won't work for you. I went thru the return process, but it would cost more to package and ship it back to the seller than I paid. So I am just selling it on ebay. There are no warranties, it is still in plastic and it's primed and ready to be installed.***** " |
I wouldn't buy it. The seller is outside the U.S. so if you have any issues with fitment , the shipping to send it back will be too expensive.

Ok, I've partially answered my original question as I came across one of these bumper locally on Craigslist. The actual 'fit' seems ok at first glance, nothing that jumps out at you. The real issue is the lack of cutouts for the yellow running lights that are mandated for use by all cars in the US. Non-US vehicles don't need them. I suppose you could leave those out for a cleaner look but then you'd have to leave the bulbs connected all the same to avoid the console warnings that would appear if they were missing.
Cutting out holes to match the existing lights wouldn't be a problem, the harder part would be to remove the backing surround on the original bumper for use on the aftermarket one. The surround looks like its plastic-welded onto the bumper in a few spots. |
If you haven't gotten the bumper, I would suggest grabbing one from a part car. Best way, I've found, to keep everything as OEM as possible.

Agree, with above post. stick w/OEM. I've had two deer hits with my '08, the first did in the bumper. I discussed those cheap eBay covers & the body guy and a body shop the best Indy AUDI shop I know runs as an adjunct to the car shop says he has untold number of problems with fitting those parts. The first hit I was insured by what I thought was a local ins co, Adirondack. First time I had a claim I found out they were gobbled up by "The General"! Absolutely horrible experience dealing with them. The local guy had a parts car w/good bumper but I lost my headlight washers in the process! (The donor car had no washers) No big deal as I never found them that useful anyway. After that experience I switched to Erie Insurance through an agent that's an AUDI guy in the NY Capital region. What a huge difference! Texted my agent when my daughter hit a deer late on Friday night. (minor, just took out headllight) He had me call Erie They took info & said adjuster would call Monday. He called 8:00 Monday morning. drove out 2 hrs later. Gave me an estimate. Took estimate to body shop & he thought it was reasonable. I called & OK the estimate & they sent me a check a couple days later!
Here's the name of the Indy shop below! People from all over the NE have been driving lohg distances to avail them selves of their excellent service, both selling used cars and service & performance upgrades! No financial interest, just supporting good people! https://www.salisburymotorcar.com |
