I have a 2008 A6 S-Line. Bought an aftermarket S6-style front grill on eBay that is supposed to fit my vehicle.

Had some body work done recently, and my mechanic said that the aftermarket grill does not have the same bolting pattern as the OEM so he couldn't install it. He seems to think my front grill is for a standard A6, not for the S-Line model.

I'm looking at pictures of A6 C6 grills and can't tell any differences in bolt pattern between the standard grill and the S-Line style grill. What gives?

is yours the 6.5? (facelift model) ??

I don't believe so ... are you referring to the C6 facelift incorporated right around '08/09? I know that added daytime LEDs and extended the taillights onto the trunk lid. Mine does not have any of that.

@Brett Rivera - the aftermarket grilles require some slight cutting and modifications on the part of the vehicle and the grille. It's not hard, but it's not a direct fit either. Do a search on aftermarket grille and you'll find enough threads on it.

@raj99 Thank you for your reply. I found this thread, which mentions modifying the grill to fit, but unfortunately the images aren't loading so I'm having a hard time picturing what he describes. Are you aware of another thread that deals with this topic? Perhaps it will be more clear when I get the original grill off and can compare the 2.

Here are pictures of my aftermarket grill. In the thread linked above, the guy mentioned his aftermarket 2009-2011 grill had tabs sticking out on the side that he had to remove to fit his 2008 A6. My aftermarket grill has no such tabs. Do you happen to know what I'll need to modify?

I like my grill if this is something you're looking for it's the rs6 style grill. I just want to fine a honeycomb fog light cover too.
