Any more word on timing for the 4.2 FSI engine for the A6?

Unlikely anytime soon
I'd say at least until the half-term face lift in 1.5 years or so, assuming a 6 year product cycle. That's what they've done with other engines, too - either at new introduction (3.2) or face lift (3.0).

Some sources say MY2007 or MY2008
The sooner, the better, though. I believe that the 4.2L FSI V8 (with a 7,200 RPM redline) will produce 350 horsepower in the A6, Q7, A8/A8L and R8, R9 or R10, if the R8, R9 or R10 gets the 4.2L FSI V8. In the B7 RS 4, the 4.2L FSI V8 (with an 8,250 RPM redline) produces a whopping 420 hp. In the B8 S4 and S5, the 4.2L FSI V8 (with a 7,200 or 7,500 RPM redline) will produce 370 hp. In the A6, the 4.2L FSI V8 will produce 317 or 325 lbs/ft of torque. In the B7 RS 4, the 4.2L FSI V8 produces 317 lbs/ft of torque. In the B8 S4 and S5, Q7, A8/A8L and, again, if it gets the 4.2L FSI V8, R8, R9 or R10, the 4.2L FSI V8 will produce 325 lbs/ft of torque.
