Default Audi A6 - C6 - Door Coding

My car is a RHD Sedan with the following PR codes.relevant to my query

QQ1 - With additional lights (interior lighting)
6XL - Exterior mirrors: with memory function, automatically dimming, electrically foldable/adjustable/heated
4KC - Side and rear windows in heat-insulatingglass
L0R - Right-hand drive vehicle
4K7 - Central locking system "Keyless Entry" "two-stage unlocking"
All of my doors have the puddle lights, and red warning light when door is opened.
Both of the front doors are coded to 0017146
Both of the rear doors are coded to 0016426

Ross-tech's site has the following breakdown for the A6 (C6/4F)

Coding

  1. +0000001 = Fuel Tank Lid Unlock Button (PR-A8U)
  2. +0000002 = Interior Door Handle Illumination
  3. +0000004 = Insulated Glass installed (PR-4KR/4KV)
  4. +0000008 = Door Warning Lights installed
  5. +0000016 = Right Hand Steering (PR-L0R)
  6. +0000032 = Lighting Package (Interior Lighting - PR-QQ1)
  7. +0000064 = Lighting Package (Exterior Lighting - PR-QQ1)
  8. +0000128 = Outside Mirror Adjustment (Memory - PR-6XF/6XL)
  9. +0000256 = Mirror Heating NOT installed
  10. +0000512 = Interior Lock Switch installed
  11. +0001024 = Avant (Wagon)
  12. +0002048 = Electrical Child Safety Lock (PR-4H5)
  13. +0004096 = Opening Assistance
  14. +0008192 = Closing Assistance (PR-GZ2)
  15. +0016384 = Keyless-Entry installed (PR-4F2/4K5/4K7)
  16. +0032768 = Safe Function disabled (PR-A8U)
  17. +0065536 = Window Regulator Comfort Function disabled
  18. +0131072 = Handicapped Vehicle
  19. +0262144 = Special Protection Vehicle
  20. +0524288 = Pinch Protection disabled
Can anyone help me with the breakdown of the current coding, and what the doors should be coded to with the information I've provided above? the current numbers dont seem to cover the car's actual options and I'm a bit confused if i start with 00000001 and then add options form the list or not.

thanks in advance.

  3. +0000008 = Door Warning Lights installed
  4. +0000016 = Right Hand Steering (PR-L0R)
  5. +0000032 = Lighting Package (Interior Lighting - PR-QQ1)
  6. +0000512 = Interior Lock Switch installed
  7. +0001024 = Avant (Wagon)

you have issues with the doors or?
and yes...coding seems a bit off what i can see..
yeah..you add the options you have and the sum of all = coding
if you for instance have +0000001 = Fuel Tank Lid Unlock Button (PR-A8U) you add 1...then just add more..like +16384 for keyless...and so on..
cheers/H

I don't really have issues with the doors, they work and everything seems to work, but the coding itself didn't calculate to the options I know the vehicle has.

Since my original post I did change the coding to 0017150 for the front doors

  1. +0000002 = Interior Door Handle Illumination
  2. +0000004 = Insulated Glass installed (PR-4KR/4KV)
  3. +0000008 = Door Warning Lights installed
  4. +0000016 = Right Hand Steering (PR-L0R)
  5. +0000032 = Lighting Package (Interior Lighting - PR-QQ1)
  6. +0000064 = Lighting Package (Exterior Lighting - PR-QQ1)
  7. +0000128 = Outside Mirror Adjustment (Memory - PR-6XF/6XL)
  8. +0000512 = Interior Lock Switch installed
  9. +0016384 = Keyless-Entry installed (PR-4F2/4K5/4K7)
What I'm unsure of is what does the coding for +0000004 = Insulated Glass installed (PR-4KR/4KV) actually do? I'm guessing it's telling the controller to account for the weight of the glass or something?

I should point out both before and after changing the coding I'm not getting any errors.

I understand what you are saying and I did wonder about this myself. I also understand that there are a lot of 'unknowns' when it comes to the coding and adaptation values for these vehicles. Ross Tech's data is incomplete but is a good reference point and wont cover every possible scenario or module / option.

I was looking through the possible PR codes and can see 4KR/4KV do not actually relate to insulated side glass, but actually laminated, whereas 4KC is heat insulated side and rear windows.

  • 4KA - Side and rear windows in clear glass
  • 4KB - Front side and rear window clear glass rear side windows sheet metal
  • 4KC - Side and rear windows in heat-insulating glass
  • 4KD - Side and rear windows pasted
  • 4KE - Side and rear windows in laminated glass
  • 4KF - Side windows in heat-insulating glass, from B-pillar and rear window dark tinted
  • 4KG - Windows in cab doors, clear glass, load compartment and rear wing doors without windows (closed)
  • 4KH - Green tinted side windows, from B-pillarand rear window laminated glass w/ metallayer, man oper. hinged quarter window
  • 4KJ - Side and rear windows clear glass hinged quarter windows operated manually
  • 4KK - Without side and rear windows
  • 4KL - Green tinted side windows, from B-pillarand rear window laminated glass w/ metallayer, powered hinged quarter window
  • 4KM - Windows in cab doors tinted, load compartment and rear wing doors without windows (closed)
  • 4KN - Laminated side and rear windows, burglary-resistant
  • 4KP - Side and rear windows, acoustic glass
  • 4KQ - Side and rear windows in heat-insulatingglass (blue)
  • 4KR - Laminated glass side windows, rear windows in heat-insulating glass
  • 4KS - Side and rear windows
  • 4KT - Front side and rear windows tinted greenrear side windows sheet metal
  • 4KU - Side and rear windows in laminated glass
  • 4KV - Side and rear windows in laminated glass
  • 4KW - Side and rear windows in laminated glass
  • 4KX - Side and rear windows tinted green hinged quarter window operated manually
  • 4KY - Side and rear windows tinted green hinged quarter window operated electr.
  • 4KZ - Side and rear windows rear window hinged

From my recent experience with coding my doors/comfort features, I have reasoned that the way to approach this is from the top down. That is, find the largest code in the list that can be subtracted from your current coding and then do the same thing to whatever remains and keep doing it until nothing remains and those are the options that your door is coded for. So for the rear door your coding is 0016426 and the largest code you can take from that is 16384 ( interesting note about these binary codings is if you add up all the numbers below any starting point you will end up at one less than that number, which, in the case of the list you provided, is missing 1, 64, 128 and 256). So your first subtraction leaves 42 which would mean you would have the lighting package from line 5 which will leave you with 10. To get 10 you must have (at least so far as the car has been told) line 2 and line 8. Make no mistake, I'm not saying this is what your car is equipped with but it is what it believes it is equipped with. Now it gives you a starting point to try other codings that you feel are more accurate. It looks like you should try 16384 + 512(?) + 32 + 16 + 8 +4 + 2 = 16958 (with the 512 if you have that).
