Blue Smoke - 2008 A6 3.2 - 188K Km

Just bought an a6 3.2, car smokes at startup, after driving when car sit for sometime when I start again car smoke a lot for 1 ~ 2 minutes, smoke is white/blue and sometime car misfire too and then runs fine after few minutes. On highway car runs smooth.

Just replaced the spark plugs, changed the engine oil 1000km ago used lubro moly 5/40 and also added lubro moly engine oil saver, hoping it will help if smoke is due to valv stem seals. No change in smoke.

Please help, always wanted an audi, its my first audi, love the car but blue smoke making me worried.

If you are not loosing coolant, then I'd start with replacing your valve seals and see if that improves the situation for you. The job is relatively straight-forward and if you SEARCH the forum, you'll find up a few write-ups on how to do it. While doing the job, it's a great opportunity to change the spark plugs and the air filter, since you'll need to remove them to do the valve gaskets.

Make sure you clean everything up really well before you seal up the engine.

agreed on the valve stem seals. They are leaking oil back on valves that cause the blue smoke. Also, when you sit at a light at idle, it will leak, then give off a blue puff when you accelerate.

Hopefully that's your only issue.

Thanks for your help, no I am not loosing any coolant, valve stem seals not a small job, is there anything else I can check before replacing stem seals. I could not find any help with pics or video on replacing stem seals on a 3.2 engine, a link to DIY instructions would be helpful. thanks.

Thanks Again for your help.
Can PCV cause this kind of issue ?
MY car is 2008 3.2, I dont even see Pcv beside oil filter housing. seems like its somewhere deep. I am not sure if this car has some different pcv system.
Yesterday I drove car hard for few minutes since then smoke more.
Please advice on PCV and if there is a link how to replace , please help. Smoking bad for a minute or so at startup, while driving no visible smoke. Thanks.
