FWIW, JD Power has the 2007 A6 as an award winner as most dependable, along with a 5 start long term dependability rating.
Weird that your 2007 numbers don't match.

As stated, the sample sizes for the 2007 and 2008 are very small. We have a much lower reported repair frequency for the 2006, where the sample size is larger.
But also realize that different surveys ask different questions. Ask different questions, and you'll often get different results. It's very important to know the questions behind any survey-based stats.

Thanks for participating--this will help fix any discrepancy.
Usually when our results are off it's because the sample size is still too small. J.D. Power's results are sometimes off as well, though for different reasons. It's possible that this time both are off, but in different directions.

We've updated our car reliability stats for the C6 Audi A6 to include owner experiences through March 31, 2011.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2008: 100, worse than average
2007: 97, about average
2006: 38, better than average
2005: 161, worse than average
Decent sample sizes for the 2005 and 2006, though the 2006 result appears off.
We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

We've updated the our reliability stats for the C6 A6 (on our redesigned site!) to include owner experiences through September 30, 2011.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2008: 91, worse than average, small sample size
2007: 41, better than average, small sample size
2006: 69, about average
2005: 182, worse than average
Decent sample sizes for the 2005 and 2006, small and even very small sample sizes for the others. This could explain some inconsistencies. It might also help to break out our reliability stats by engine, but not yet enough cars in the sample.
