Default Coolant Pump Pulley Removal 3.2L

I need to replace my front coolant pipe on my 3.2L FSI ('06 A6 C6) which involves removing the coolant pump pulley.
The manual says to use specific Audi spanner wrench (3212) to hold the pulley while removing the bolts.
Rather than using that specific spanner wrench can I either:
  1. Use my generic spanner wrench (I'd just need to know the size of the pins needed to fit the holes on the pulley) Does anyone know what size pins are needed for this job?
  2. Use a second wrench and counter torque on the other bolts. (Not sure if this would work in the real world, or if it would leave me with the last bolts stuck on with nothing to counter-torque against)
What's the best way to do this if I don't want to buy the VW Spanner Wrench 3212?

Any other advise from the field on replacing the front coolant pipe welcomed.

I always loosen the pulley bolts a little, prior to belt removal. Then, remove them the rest of the way after the belt is off.
