Default Door Does Not Open and Stays Locked

My car started doing something very strange lately. When I unlock all of the doors the rear driver stays locked and does not open from outside. I have tried everything but I have not been able to figure out what is causing this. Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it? Thank you.

Whilst this may sound pretty strange, have you recently replaced the battery?

Aftermarket batteries can cause some wacky issues with these cars.

No, Juju, our 2006 car does the same frequently. Only on the passenger side (rear). I have no idea what's causing it and have not been able to correct it.

I did replace the battery with after an after market one but that was about two years ago. I do not think the aftermarket battery if causing this. But now that you mention this I will have the battery tested to rule it out.

I wonder if the module that controls the locks is going bad and needs replacing? I have Vag the car and it came back with nothing. Very strange.

i have the same issue with my left-rear door. unable to open/unlock from the outside, but i'm able to open it from the inside so i'm not sure if it's exactly the same issue as yours.

i have the keyless entry and i have read in other posts that the door handle itself will need to be replaced to address this issue.

vag-com result from my vehicle is as follows:

Well I have a spare door locking module for the front LH door (passenger side in RHD) if anyone would like to purchase it, as I had the same code and some issues with the operation.

Tried replacing the part with the new part, which didn't fix it. Replaced the battery with a genuine item (and coded it appropriately in the battery management system) and all good!

Don't ask me how/why exactly, but it fixed it!

Yup, driver rear opens from inside not outside.

Really!!! I will try recoding my battery this weekend even though I replaced it two years ago and hope that fixes it.
