Default Found an MMI Interface Box...From A8. Will it work?

So the idiot who sold me this MMI interface box listed it as an A6 component, claimed it was from an A6 and that it'll work on A6s, A8s, and a few other Audis. Except, I got the unit today and the SW code starts with 4E0 which is an A8 chassis code, and not 4F0. Can this unit still be installed on my car? Will the dealer have to upload A8 software? Is it possible to do that?

Kinda' confused on what to do.

In the pic, it looked like the SW was 4F0. And his feedback was nearly perfect, so I grabbed it for $170 shipped full well knowing the risk. Despite him claiming no returns, eBay's buyer protection is extremely biased toward the buyer, so I know I can get my money back if this is the wrong unit (it was misrepresented). But still wondering if it's possible to use.

I think it will work. i swapped MMI modules between 2007 or older Q7, A6, and A8 before and they boot up OK. You may want to do MMI software update and you also need to perform the adaptation properly.
