Front license plate loose

Front license plate loose
My 08 A6 license plate is loose. Upon inspection it was just sctewed into the plastic bumper cover with sheet metal screws. They were only into the plastic and nothing more. It seems that is a poor way to guarantee your plate will remain on over time. Was this installed correctly, or should the screws be into something bebind the bumper cover? In either case, what should I do now? The existing holes are too large and I hate to keep putting larger holes into the cover without a solid backing.

Hmm... you could get one of those licence plate kits with the white nylon anchors... might have to open the holes up, but they will stay pretty much for ever.
