H7 bulb removal for LED or HID conversion- How?
Q-> Anybody know how to swap out the inside H7 bulbs in the headlight (fog bulb on an S6) without taking out the headlight? I could not see deep enough inside to get a hold of it. I want to swap it out for an LED bulb or proper HID conversion.

You need to pull out the airboxes, filters, and associated intake tubing on both sides behind the headlights. Then you can gain access to the clips on the headlight housings to release the back covers. Once the covers are off, release the wire retainers holding the bulbs in, and take the bulbs out. It's a TIGHT fit, and you'll need small hands to get the old bulbs out, and the new bulbs in. TRUST ME. It took me about an hour to do one side, the second came easier because I knew what to expect. Things that may help: a mirror so you can see inside the headlight housing, and a bent tip longnose pliers to hold and maneuver the bulb and the wire bulb retainers. Good luck.

Thanks. I had the airboxes out when I did the custom intakes, and gave it a shot, but couldn't see **** inside the light housing. Didn't want to be poking my hands around the ballast and such (25K volts out of those bad boys). The mirror is a good Idea. Maybe I'll give that a shot on the weekend. What did you put in there?

I put in a set of Osram All-Season selective yellow bulbs. I figured since they are foglights, I wanted a contrast with the HIDs if they're both on at the same time in foul weather conditions. It lessens the chance of someone flashing their brights at you thinking that you have yours on.

i was looking at a bulb upgrade but had a quick look at how i'd fit them and changed my mind!!! It looks like an afternoons work to do all the front end bulbs!!! Am i right in saying u need 2 sets of H7's and a set of H1's + 501s for side lights???
I've got an LED DRL style set i'd like to try, but think they'd need a permanent ignition switched live, i originally thought i'd hook them up with the sidelights but that wouldn't give a great effect?!?! Any ideas guys??
