Default Hood open

Does anyone know how to open a hood with a broken/ loose cable? I would rather not use the Sawsall method. Thanks

I don't know what the Sawsall method is but if you remove the front wheel and arch liner on the drivers side you may well be able to access the broken hood latch cable.

I have already pulled the liner, it is all closed out. The Sawsall method is to spread the hood and grill and use a 12 blade to cut the hood hook. I already have a replacement hook from the dealer for $104.
Thanks for the reply.

Any resolution to this???

After an hour with a flashlight, long screwdriver and vice grips, I'm hopeless.

can you get a wrench in there to undo the nuts that hold the hook part to the hood?

I've looked under my bonnet at the latch to try and fit an emergency opener and still can't find a way to open it.
I don't fancy your chances of opening it with the bonnet closed.
Try Audi, see if they can suggest anything.

Issue Resolved!!!!

Bolts from front = no good, there are 2 more from the back
Bolts for hook on hood = no good, 3rd one is completely inaccessible.

ONLY route is between the radiator and the pulleys. LONG handled screw driver or pry bar with a bent tip at the end WILL pop the mechanism, AFTER you pry back the plastic guard on the cable assembly.

Once you've done it, you'll be pissed at how easy it is, but before you've done it, it's damn near impossible.

I RECOMMEND THAT EVERY C6 OWNER GOES AND LOOKS AT THE HOOD LATCH RIGHT NOW WHILE YOU CAN OPEN THE HOOD.

You'll thank me later.
