how to replace side marker bulb?

Side Marker Orange Light Replacement
For my 2007 Audi A6 Quattro Sedan removal of the side marker orange housing is an easy process. The light I'm referring to is located on the front bumper above the fog light housing and below the main headlight. To remove this housing either to change a bulb or change the plastic housing (to an aftermarket clear one or whatever) is done by carefully using an exacto blade or swiss army blade (that's the one I used - you can use any equivalent) and guide the blade to the side of the housing closest to the wheel (left for passenger, right for driver). Work the blade into the edge and you won't scratch anything. Slightly twist the blade. There is a very forgiving tab that holds the housing in which easily releases with this technique. You can then pop the housing off to change the bulb, etc.... I tried the "remove the fog light housing" technique and it's way to difficult to reach in from underneath and over complicated. This method is fast, simple and effective. I hope this helps you.

One clarification for removal of the fog light grill/trim: Bentley Repair Manual states "Release clip - using a screwdriver, and remove air inlet grille at lower part of bumper cover". There is a slot opening in the middle of the grille that you insert the screw driver. After you insert it, push towards the center of the car to relase clip, then pull the grille on either side of the light forward. The grille will then come out. Then remove the two Torx screws securing the fog light, unclip the wire connector, and lay the light aside. You can then either pull the side marker light socket out from the rear or push the side marker lens out to replace the bulb or lamp holder. I did this method last evening and replaced both lights. I replace both because the right light would not illuminate every time, and would then trip a "bulb out" on the dash. After I tapped the lamp, it would then come on, and the warning DTC would go out. Installation is reverse of the above.

I would suggest using a spacula (SP?) or a credit card to get the reflector piece out so it doesn't scratch/damage your paint. Once its out, you just twist the bulb and can replace it with a different one. It worked for me but then I decided to smoke the reflector

Remove the felt lining in the wheel well and press the metal clip to pop the light. If you have headlight wash, the pump will be in the way so you may need to remove the driver side wheel to reduce the contortionist skills.

The trailing edge pops out first.
