Default Ipod integration for 2007 a6

May buy a 07 A6 with regular radio/disc changer (no nav). What are the options out there for Ipod integration? Thanks.

Two widely used/recommended ones I'm aware of are:

(1) Dension Gateway 500
(2) Audi AMI (retrofit)

AMI retrofit kits cost ~$700, I believe Dension GW 500s are in the $500 range; installation costs would be extra, if you don't install it yourself.

A new alternative, made in Poland (?) and sold via eBay, has shown up in the last few months, but haven't seen any reports (positive or negative) on folks experiences with it. Hopefully someone else can chime in on same.

Another option, about a year old IIRC, is the mObridge, but have only seen one report (very recent, search the forums) of experiences with same, and it was a "not recommended" report from that owner.

Hope this helps!

I personally chose the AMI retrofit route on my '07 S6...

I purchased and installed one of the Ebay AMI unit from Poland and it works excellent and installs fairly easy. I would definately recommend it if you are not looking to spend an arm and a leg for the Denison.

I just installed the Dension GW 500 in my 2008 A6 Allroad following the detailed instructions I found by googling "dension gateway 500 a6 installation"

The actual installation took about 45 minutes counting interruptions from phone calls, 2-year-old's helping with the cables (), etc...

Feel free to send me a message if you need help.

Cheers,
Brian

I purchased the AMI kit and swapped out the CD changer. Haven't looked back since.

Does anyone know if the Glove Box has changed from year to year in the C6?

I am considering a AMI unit but my dealer says I need a new glovebox because I have an 05 model and it can't hold the 2 units side by side (AMI and CD Changer). This is kind of confirmed by this post? But I am not sure. Can someone who knows confirm this?

Thanks

Thanks
Glove boxes have changed; word is that, in Nov '06, they made a running change in '07 productions to an AMI-ready glove box, where earlier '07s had two lower bays but only the left-hand had enough depth to slide a CD changer and/or AMI all the way in.

If you're in this boat - two lower bays, only left hand side deep enough - then it's easy enough to use a dremel (or similar) to cut the rear of the bay on the right (it's just plastic back there). Either that or the $400 the dealer wanted for a new glove box.

I suggest either the dremel route (as I did) to get to side-by-side dual install, or removing the CD changer and putting the AMI in there. Just be sure to hold on to the CD changer, as it's the route for future MMI updates...
