Light Sensor Defective

Hi,

I have a 2005 Audi A6 3.2 with vagcom error:

I replace the light sensor on the dashboard. The problem is still there.

When the headlights are set to Auto the headlights turn off/on properly. However, the interior dashboard lights do not. They are always off. Any ideas? MMI is updated to the latest.

Thanks in advance.

Did you clear the code and see if it is coming back? And if all of your fuses are good?

daniel5420 01-18-2015 12:15 PM

Yep, cleared the code. It comes back. No bad fuse. The fuse would power the whole module so other things would fail as well. Is it possible it is a bad comfort module?

life4sk8 01-18-2015 02:07 PM

Well if you have no error for the comfort module I wouldn't touch it.

If replaced the sensor and I'm
Not replacing the comfort module the only thing left is the harness or could it be coded incorrectly? I checked and it seems in order.

Same issue and same error code G399 with 2006 A6. I pulled the sensor, and the error changed. Based on that ordered a new (expensive!) sensor. Will update when I change it. Did you ever resolve your problem?

yeah I just replaced the sensor part on the mirror. Fixed it. Found the part used on eBay. Cheap.

For the record, I did the same (after replacing the sensor that mounts inside the upper dash) and bingo, it was fixed.
