Looking to move from an A4 to an A6 or A8
I've had my 1998 A4 2.8 30v for 6 years and it still runs pretty good at 220K. It has had oil leaks since I got it and I was hoping for your opinions on the best motor for me. I want the most reliable and low maintenance motor I can get. Obviously that eliminates turbos, so of the naturally aspirated V6's and V8's which one is the most long-lasting? With meticulous care, I'd like my next car to get to 300K without leaks or issues.

if you do not care about the brand, I would go for what Taliban drives:
if you only care about Audi, I would definitely go with 3.2 normally aspirated preferably >2008 m/y.

First off, I won't drive anything but Audi. Secondly, the 3.2 came about in 2005 I think. Any reason for recommending 08 and up other than simply being less used. What about the 3.2 makes it more reliable and did said design changes not carry over to the V8's? Thanks.

For example the 2.0 FSI was really buggy engine with people changing the camshaft follower every 10K. in 2009 Audi updated the engine to use a little roller. Same probably applies to 3.2L FSI.
I do not have the solid proof though.

Don't go to A8 from A4. The difference will be overwhelming. The A8 is too big except you need that much room. Look for a well maintained Certified A6.
