Looking for receiver to retrofit XM or sirius for '06
Hey all, I called the stealer yesterday to see about getting XM or Sirius retrofit on my A6 (Avant) (I'm convinced the iPod retrofit won't be out until '08 if at all). The service rep told me it's no problem to do it, but the parts guy quoted me $570 USD for an XM receiver, does that sound right? Since XM is no longer 'officially supported' I think they'd be getting rid of the extra receivers at blowout prices......
If that is the price, is there any other receiver which can be retrofit (integrated with MMI) for, I dunno, $200?

Here you go:
You can check with these guys:
http://genuineaudiparts.com/
(Search for part number 4E0057593A for XM, or 4E0057593 for Sirius.)
-OR-
http://www.autopartsnationwide.com/
(Search for part number 4E0-057-593-A for XM, or 4E0-057-593 for Sirius.)
Make sure you pay attention to the fact that the searches don't require dashes on one site, but do on the other.
The XM units sell for under $100. I prefer XM to Sirius, anyway. ...But that's just my $.02

Re: Wow - Both are sub $100 for XM. Is XM plug and play swap for Sirius?
My 2007 S6 came with Sirius from the factory. Is the XM module a simple plug and play replacement?
