MMI 2G Software Update

Hey guys, new to the forum. Been doing a lot of reading but never did register until now.

I bought a 06 Avant and love it. My biggest gripe so far is the fact that I can't stream music via bluetooth especially when the car has bluetooth capabilities with the phone!!! (makes no sense to me)I wanted to do the MMI update and get the AMI bluetooth kit so I can stream from my iPhone. First thing in my task was to get the MMI from version 11.9.0 to 46.1.0

It took me a while to source the ISO files.

My goal with this post is to make the files easily accessed for others. Here is a link to the files on my Google Drive.

CD1: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-0...ew?usp=sharing
CD2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-0...ew?usp=sharing

CD1 is the bluetooth update. I had to run the update twice to get the phone bluetooth to work. After I did it once, it said that "The telephone is not installed." After the 2nd update everything worked fine.
CD2 is the actual MMI update. I used it to go straight from 1190 to 4610. Everything worked great.

Hope this is helpful to someone out there trying to do the update.

FYI: I am a Mac user. I could not burn the ISO files to a disc with my MacBook Pro. I had to use a Windows based machine to burn the discs!!!!! Hopefully this saves someone from some frustration like it caused me.

Mere is my Avant. Its has been raining ever since I bought it, so i've had no opportunities to snap some good photos of it.

How did you load the upgrades into the MMI?

By burning it to CDs and loading into the CD drive in your glove box

Has anyone gotten these image files to work? I have tried multiple times and it always says "Meta File Missing" or something like that.

Thanks

It appears that the "Meta File Missing" error is caused by a fault Cd player. I just tried to update my MMI and ran into it. Although my CD player plays CD's fine. At this point I'm in disbelief its the actual CD player and am going to take it out make sure its dust free and that the connections are secure on it.

Hello, I currently have an 08 A6 S-line with the following MMI version and wondering if it is advisable to upgrade to the version listed above (CD2)? Thanks for your advice.

Yes, you can update via CD2 alone.

Thank you. To verify the process, i just burn the image to a cd and just insert it in the glove compartment cd player?

just to be clear, please be aware that should you do the update incorrectly and have an issue during the update, there is the chance that you brick your MMI. you should THOROUGHLY read up on the update and also have a battery tender to ensure you have continuity of power during the update.
