My custom 3.0T intake :)

Got my mechanic Subyking custom make me a intake.. He did such a great job that he decided to make a few more (since there is no company That offers a intake for the 3.0ts... This will possibly fit the 4.2L as well (test fitting next week) Custom tig welded piping, k&n filter, and a heat shield !! :) Piping is black aluminum 3" diameter.. Video link to follow. Give me feedback on what you think!!

Where is your heatshield and cold air feed? That thing is going to rob you of power and potentially damage the engine since those filters don't do an effective job sifting out the dirt.

Heat shield is being made soon and cold air feed is there from stock airbox

The stock airbox suck in air from the front of the car (top left on the grill). This way you're just sucking in hot air from inside the hot engine bay.

I fail to see the point of these things.

That duct flows directly into the new filter. With heat shield there will be very little heat. And we do it to hear the supercharger

When we will know if this will fit the 4.2?? Wil they be made available?

Philip1 08-29-2012 04:24 PM

My concern is less about the heat and more the infiltration of abrasives from the "performance" filter. I have tried them all and very few so called performance filters filter very well and the performance is usually within the noise of most dynos. So far the best performance system I've seen is very close to what Audi themselves spent millions developing.

Just my two cents

I did some research on this back when I had a '95 S6 and the PO sold me the car with a K&N filter installed. After reading the articles I switched back to OEM. Make your own decision.

I've had a k&n on my Sti for 2 years without any problem whatsoever and on my b6 a4 for over a year... K&n is one of the top intake filter company in the world. It all comes down to this.. "To each his own"
