My father just purchased an '08 A6 4.2...Can paddle shifters be added to the car?

Long story short, the first A6 that Rusnak found that matched his criteria had the paddle shifters, but apparently it was sold, so they found another that was almost identically equipped.

I guess he was mistaken, because he just called to confirm the pickup for tomorrow and they ran through the list and this 2nd A6 does NOT have the paddle shifters.

Is this something that can be added or is it a huge PITA?

63 views...come on guys. Would it be as simple as swapping the steering wheel?

I drove an A8 with the paddles and I must say they are great fun

Im sure he wouldnt miss them, I was just wondering if they could be a potential add-on?

Re: Call the Dealer

Strange, you could have had your answer already. Not a mod that ranks high on the list for me or others I would guess, so know nothing about it. Drive the car in S mode, the paddles will not make or break the vehicles driving experience.

If it's anything like going 3 spoke to 4spoke in the A8 it's a PITA or damn near impossible

but with money, anything is possible.

We have the paddles and it has an advantage. You can be in drive and work the paddles. It goes into

manual mode for about 30 secs. Say your in traffic and you need to move quickly, just a few taps down and away you go. Shifts are quick and jerky when you do this. So it does have a value. Only bad part is heated steering wheel is not availible with paddles.

of course it will be a PITA, and also expensive...
