Default to confirm

Ya, i found the best way to confirm which speaker it at fault is to do the tone test via a VAG tool. It helped me isolate the speaker in under a minute.

Hello everyone. I've been lurking around in these forums for a while, and I finally got my 2006 A6 3.2 quattro a month ago and decided to start joining in on the discussions. One thing that has been really annoying me with my A6 was this problem with the crackling sound coming from the speakers, but this would only happen when listening to the CD changer.

Others have claimed on other threads in this forum the problem was the cd changer, and they fixed it by taking their car to the dealer to replace it (because it was under warranty; mine ended already). These people, just like myself, claimed that the crackling noise only occured when using the cd changer. So my question is, when does the crackling noise occur in your car? All the time? Only when using the cd changer? I am ordering VAG-COM at the moment, so once I receive it, I will be able to rule out the cd changer (I hope). Thanks!

So have you ordered it AUDISPORT1? You gonna do a DIY or bring it to dealership? I am hoping i can get some tme to do a DIY. Have you looked into getting the sub direct from BOSE as suggested in a post up above?

I just ordered the speaker tonight off of genuineaudiparts.com. Being as they are located in CA it usually takes about 7-9 days to recieve the part after ordering it. I plan on doing a DIY job here. I will take pictures and create a writeup if you think it would help. I havent thought of going direct to Bose for the speaker. But that might be an option to some.

Run your VGA-COM and eliminate the speakers and let me be the first to say... welcome aboard.

BTW, your year A6 is the highest overall rated C6 to-date in CR, tell us about yours..enjoy.

For me it doesnt matter if its the cd, am/fm or sirus radio stations. If you have the VAG, you can isolate each speaker and run a tone thru it. You will know when u hit a bad speaker. Warning: leave windows open when doing the tone test. May I also suggest to bring the car back since it has only been a month and have them repair it. It shouldn't cost u a thing.

Which of these is the woofer on the passenger door? (Just want clarification) And also, has anybody been able to find a full DIY for this speaker replacement?
