Need some help on 2005 Audi A6
My 2005 Audi A6 (3.2L) has the following symbol that shows up
line across P in the dashboard. Is this the emergency brake that is gone bad? I have 102K miles. I will hook my VAG COM and see what codes are registering. My navigation system appears that it is stopped getting signal to and from the satellite, the antenna on the roof has gone bad? I was planning to do the following maintenance: 1. spark plugs 2. Fuel filter 3. Air filter 4. Serpentine belt 5. Front and Rear brakes 6. Oil Change 7. Flush out brake fluid. 8. Cabin filter 9. Flush out ATF fluid Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
have u isolated the issue to the antenna?
did it one day just stop working? im in the process of swapping out my antenna there is a TSB about the 05 06 antennas... the longer bigger ones they tend to break and open up a small gap where moisture gets in and slowly ruins the antenna the newer smaller one should be better design but may not install properly on our roofs bc our cars have 2 holes and newer cars may have only 1 hole |
Regarding Roof Antenna
Yes, one day it stopped getting GPS signal as the cursor on the Navigation screen was not moving.
The radio works OK. Can someone post pictures of how to remove the roof antenna and how to check it and how to test it? Does the VAGCOM helps trouble shoot this one? Thanks so much |
VCDS can be use to help isolate the issue .. u have to read the "measuring blocks" but for my situation this did not help
when u say radio do u also mean satellite radio do u have that does that work fine? i believe for our vehicles the am/fm reception is handled by the rear window... not by our shark fin u could remove the antenna and visually inspect it (i discovered water damage) its not too difficult depending on your skill level u have to remove part or whole roof liner and unscrew a 25T screw not sure how to test it... i dont have a voltage meter or experience like that im just going to chance it and get a replacement and hope its not my satellite module in the trunk |
Regarding shark fin roof antenna
Yes, I meant AM/FM radio works, not tried satellite radio.
will try to see what VAGCOM shows this weekend. How much is the shark fin antenna and where did you buy it from? |
haven't bought one yet .. but they pricey... going to try the used route 1st in case its my module in the trunk
ECS tuning has them new its annoying bc there's so many part #s for similar antennas and upgraded antennas here are two 4F5-035-503-H-GRU 4F5-035-504-H-GRU GRU i believe means primed and would need to be painted to match veh color 4F5 maybe be interchangeable with 8E5 H indicates version type seen diffrent PNs with K and A B C again so many out there CLICK for another AW thread this one may also be helpful CLICK |
i dont have all the pics to do a write up
but heres what i did from the rear seat u have to remove the rear piece of the roof liner (close to the top break light)it runs left to right .. it care pops out with the clips... proper trim removal tools help i believe the inside of c pillar line may also need to be popped out i used the driver side then i didnt pull off the main liner bc it requires removing the interior ceiling lights .. i just gently pulled it down temporarily to snap this pic http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/2459/img0357di.jpg u need a small ratchet with a T25 bit this is from the roof http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/3217/img0547vr.jpg this is the interior http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/1944/img0551n.jpg |
don flush ATF just replace filter or buy a kit http://www.thectsc.com/index.php?p=c...parent=61&pg=1
and add like 6 litter of ZF lifetime fluid 8, flushing will ruins your transmission. You need vag to do it. its easy. cabin filter good luck they are difficult to change, the other tome are easy. |
About the antenna I have the same problem, and I need to buy a new antenna, so look for one they are expensive my cost $500 they are fm,am,sat, radio sat, gsm too. that why it has those color and cables.
|
Ah I forget add to your list to clean the sunroof drains, I have my clog and the water enter to my roof and damage all..just use compressed air carefully to the hole.

Regarding brake control module for 2005 audi A6
I see some on Ebay for VW and Audi, part#0 273 004 284.
This is used part. Will this fit for my Audi? Does someone know the Audi Part# for 2005 Audi A6? Someone tells me that this part fails quite a bit. I will clean the roof drains today and also ordered the ZF Transmission fluid and filter. This forum rocks and great folks!! |
For this jind of things is the great forum, experience, knowledge and share so people can save some money. actually the products that Audi use to fix the carbon buildup is De-Carb (AD-44) from Granitize http://granitize.com/index.php?pageId=333, they use it in the vacuum lines with some kind of tool. If you can find it will be great and you will save a lot.

Regarding brake control module in 2005 Audi A6
what exactly does this module do?
I see a Parking brake error showing up in the dash. As per VAG COM diagnosis, the error shows to be this brake control module, says EEPROM error. Was wondering, this must be an important function and its replacement is necessary or not? Any way to resurrect this module? |

BTW Your GPS antenna is bad, it was the first thing I had to replace, it's a pain to get the trim out of the way but easy to swap out. |
Regarding brake control module in 2005 audi a6
Yeah, I was able to disengage the rear brakes with the VAGCOM as I replaced the rotors and pads. It seems to work but still says that EEPROM failure in the brake control module. Dealer tells me that it is risky that if emergency brakes are activated, the module may fail and cause the emergency brakes to lock up.
Right now, the emergency brakes do work. Not sure if the module is bad, then should the emergency brakes be working? What was wrong with your antenna, could not be repaired?? What is the cost of the antenna? Was wondering if I disconnect the brake module and wait for like an hour and reconnect, if it can fix on its own? Is there anyone rebuilding this? Also, the lowest price is like $334 including shipping to Texas. Any ideas?? |
What light do you have in your dash? do you have some beeps sound? Fault? In my case I have a chrismas light in my dash and beep went my abs module got damage. Here http://www.modulemaster.com/en/index.php best price and warranty your module should be version 8 so is not in there website but they repair and they can check yours for free.

Regarding Parking Brake control module
The dash sign is line across P symbol.
VAGCOM shows it to be a EEPROM error for group 53 which is the brake control module. I think ABS is a separate module. The emergency brakes do work but the still shows an error. |

As per module master, it is parking brake module.
|
So its the ABS module?
|
Regarding module
I am told that it is parking brake module and modulemaster says that they do not rebuild that module but only the ABS module.
Can some audi guru tell me that are the Parking Brake Module and the ABS module, the same? or different in 2005 Audi A6 |

Location of Brake control module
Can someone take a picture of the location of the E-Brake control module in a 2005 Audi A6, please.
I am not exactly sure as to what color connector goes to it. Thanks so much |
Price for roof GPS?satellite antenna for 2005 Audi A6
The part number is 4F5035503HGRU, price is $293.88+$15 shipping.
This is for my vin# for genuineaudiparts. The shell has to be painted to match the color of the car. |
I have a brand new shark fin antenna for the C6, if anyone is interested.
It's the newer smaller one |
|
I am interested in the antenna that you have.
Is this for a 2005 A6? please e-mail me at barry.shah@gmail.com as to how much you are asking. |
it is not a direct fit for the 2005 or 2006 c6
i think audi went to the smaller antenna in 2007 but im not sure exact year the 2005 2006 roof has 2 holes... one for the wiring and one for the main securing screw Torx 25 these new ones are secured differently this only shows 2 wire leads and the 05 06 C6 has 3 or maybe 4 leads.. 1 for GPS....1 for Sat Radio... 1 for heat and 1 i believe for AM FM if thats not handled by the back window the colors will make u crazy Blue wire should be GPS RED (sometimes Pink) cell/gsm/telematics Brown/Green/White/Black should be SAT Tan i believe Heat i may experiment with a retrofit so if bballfreak backs out let me know bc i am interested depending on the price |
I have that too I was selling it for $60 on ebay but nobody want to buy it. That one is for GPS and radio. The larger one is for GPS, Radio AM FM, Satellite Radio, and I don't know for what is the other cable I have one but its used painted to my color and I don't know if GPS work I have two antennas LOL.

Hi everyone, i have C6 2006 avant and my wife managed to hit shark fin antenna with the door!!!??? She drived into garage and did not noticed that falling down door was allready closing and hit the antenna, only women can i suppose:))) The antenna itself is not broken, everithing works, it is only bended a bit, front side is off the roof abt 2-3mm and i can see the bolt inside. But how to remove it? Do i have to take off all the sealing from inside or does the antennas plastic cover pop off somehow, or should i just go to dealershop?
|
I think it is plastic shell. i would not mess with removing the inside headliner.
You can use a hair dryer on the bent piece and straighten it out. I did that on the bumper cover. I assuming this is a plastic shell. |
Thank you - Is that the correct Shark Fin part# for my 2005 A6 4.2 with Nav & Sirius? My sirius keep cutting out with "Linking". I already resent the Sirius Signal, checked and reseated antenna connections at the tuner. I am going to inspect the antenna for corrosion but I am hesitant about partially bring the headliner down. Does anyone have instructions with pics or a video? If I find there is no corrosion or visible damage to the electronics in the antenna I was thinking about replacing the tuner with a new XM ($85 on Ebay) after reading in various Audi forums that the XM tuner has stronger reception (true or BS?). FYI: I am on the North Shore of Long Island NY with dense trees. Any help is appreciated. I love the car but the Sirius cut-outs are really aggravating.

Bballfreak; the module is located right under the tool kit and jack, easy to replace and i learned a few extra steps needed to reprogram it.
Ok, after reading the wiki on Ross Tech, i came across the solution. The yellow parking park warning light is gone. Maybe now I will finally learn to read and nor skim over material....lmao. I will say this, the money spent on the Vag tool has paid itself 100 folds over. When replacing this Control Module it is necessary to perform the Basic Settings Function Test (MVB 010) and Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (MVB 020) first. This sets a Readiness Bit for each of the Basic Settings, Coding will not be accepted without having done this first! The go to group 07 and program these values:
