New A6 Wagon Owner here

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.aud...754ff44f15.jpgI am a big fan of Audi and finally, I decided to pull the plug on the A6 station wagon.

Not really, I was around with the red 2006 A6 and wanted to replace it with another A6 wagon. The plan went to half success, in the way that I got the blue 2008 A6 with 129k. I could not part with my red car even after the dealer doubled the trade-in price. So, now I have two A6 station wagons in addition to my wife’s A3. Yey – no need to switch between summer and winter tires on the same car. I will just switch cars depending on the season. I even can color code it with red for summer and blue for winter.

A few questions about the new car:

It came with “S-line” batch on the grill. Does it mean anything like firmer suspension or different gearing? I so far did not notice the difference besides the air diffuser on the top of the rear gate and more aggressive grille.

The new car came with 18” wheels compared to 17” on the old car. It requires 38/42 PSI compared to the 35/38 on the old one. Is it because of the 18” wheels or does the additional pressure make the S-line drive like a sports car?
I got used to a few convenience features on the old car (push-button start, backup sensors, active key, shades on the back seat, and in the rear gate). I guess I can transplant everything besides the active key and push-button start from the old car. This is sort of weird. Probably a silver lining since I will save money on duplicating the keys. On the other side, I got heated rear seats.

Oh, and the old car has nice soft leather seats with expandable thighs support and under-seat buckets. The new car has seats from some stiff leather. No buckets. I think the dealer did something to clean the car. Because the leather and carpet look pristine. At the same time, the glue holding the backs of the seats dissolved and they fell down right after delivery. The dealer must have used some really harsh chemicals to clean the car. I want to know what it was. I also want to know what to do with the leather of the seats to get it back into a normal state. I will try to soak it in the leather conditioner.

One more question. The old car has some metal electric boxes attached to the housing of each headlight. The new car has only one electric box in the middle. Does it mean that the new car has less “bi-Xeon” wizardry? The lights look pretty the same when I compare cars next to each other.

I can definitely feel the difference in the engine when driving 223K engine v 130K engine. So I am looking forward to using the blue car until it has 230K on it.

This is the end of the new car rant. PS Both cars had Nav as an option. Each costs $1600 and use some funky knob to pick one letter at a time. That is insanity.
PPS. I appreciate everyone's support during the past decade and looking forward to enjoying this community with my two A6.

Congratulations on the new car! Has it been in the Northeast all its life?

Why not order the window sticker for it so you know ALL the features and option packages? I think many (all?) 2008 A6 cars would have been sent to the USA as S Line.

Check your Owner's Manual for correct tire pressures.

It came from Maine and spend most of the time in RI. So yes, winter tires, chips from rock salt, and rusted bottom.

Correct tire pressures will appear on the drivers door jamb, unless it was removed or destroyed.
