Well done! Painting is a big deal and your result is indeed outstanding. The ones on mine are also deformed a bit. How did you remove them?

Keli,
They are easy to remove. Open the door and each one will have 2 screws (one at each end). Sometimes they are Philips head and sometimes they are T20 (I think). The screws may be hidden behind some rubber but they are there. Remove the 2 screws and grab the door blade on the outside of the door with both hands and slide towards the rear of the car and they come right off.

The torx or phillips head screw will be behind a square rubber seal at the front of the door. Be extra careful when removing/replacing the blade. I had some trouble on my 2005 and when I forced it just a little bit putting it back, the plastic retainer piece broke off. The door has metal studs that slide into a plastic runner in the blade. I could not find that plastic runner piece as a separate part. Mine were warped also and it turned out that water had been getting into the channel inside of the door blade. I was able to get the door blade broken down and scraped out the rust buildup, but it had deformed the blade itself.

yes. Exactly as you describe it.

And to to help remedy this issue I plan to remove mine soon and run a thin bead of silicone caulk along that top side (on the back side) to help thwart some of that rust from developing in the future. The door blades should then outlast the car.
