i have a 2006 A6 with 47k miles on it. A couple a weeks ago the car was making a terrible noise from the passenger side when i went over a bump or a pothole. I brought it to AUDI they said they figured out what it was and put some padding in the ac vents. I said fine and left. The noise went away for a lil while but has now come back and i have narrowed it down to the glovebox area, it has gotten to a point where it gets so annoying i am making my music louder so i don't have to hear it. Has anyone else experienced this problem, if yes, how did they rectify the situation? And does anyone have any other suggestions to what i should do. thanks in advance.

Take a look in the TSB library I set up with Dr. Cold (link is in my signature). In the Interior Noises section there is a TSB regarding the glovebox rattle.

I had a loud rattle noise on the passenger side as well. I finally found it was the toe kick wall under the glove box. There is space between the bottom of this toe kick wall and the floor. Over bumps the toe kick wall was tapping on the hard plastic behind the carpet. I pushed the toe kick wall back allowing room to put some adhesive foam trim tape on the hard plastic. No more rattle. I had a noise in my 2007 A6. I brought it in once and dealer said they took care of it. Needless to say they didnt. I had my wife drive car to located noise. It was the glovebox itself. I notice one bolt which holds the glovebox to the dash was missing. Went to home depot and bought another bolt which hold the dash in and problem solved. You have to get on your back and look up at bottom of glovebox to find the bolt I am speaking of..

I have a weird rattling noise coming from my Audi A3 black edition which is on a 11 Plate. It’s coming from my glove compartment. It only occurs when I go over a ditch or a pothole. Anyone know how I can rectify this ??
