Non genuine parking sensors
My 2006 front and rear parking sensors do not work. There is a prolonged beep when I put it in reverse and the yellow light in the switch flashes. Using the MMI I have selected Display APS "Graphic" but there is no display. I can adjust the tones and volumes. I cannot hear any clicking from any of the 4 bumper mounted sensors. An auto electrician said I need to buy 8 Audi sensors - that will cost almost 20% of what I paid for the car! Even the wreckers want too much. So, questions:
1. Does it sound like my problem is just the sensors?
2. Is it not unusual for all 8 to fail? Or does the whole system stop when 1 fails?
3. Can I replace just the rear ones?
4. Is there an aftermarket sensor or other make sensor that is reasonably priced? Even if I have to sleeve and repaint Toyota ones.
Thanks

To answer your questions:
1. Scan your car with VCDS, most probably it has to do with faulty sensor/s.
2. One faulty sensor blocks the system.
3. Find the bad sensor and just replace it, the system will work right away.
4. Buy new sensors from Aliexpress, i've done it many times they are dirt cheap and work like a charm.
Good luck...

I would reiterate everything that vpad said but will include that you should be careful of which sensor that you buy. Just take a close look at the connector and if it matches to your sensor completely. Good luck.
and PLEASE for the benefit of the forum, post back your experience, and include any photos that you can.

Agreed - I had the exact same problem you are having. I ordered 4 sensors (made in China, $21) so I had them available. It is fairly easy to tell whether the plug is correct. VCDS told me which sensor it was, I replaced it, and the problem disappeared. Plus I have spares in case the others go out.
