I have a 2008 A6 that has just used 2.5 quarts of oil in just over 4K miles. Car has 20K on it and oil consumtion has always been on the high side. Dealer is now doing a 1K oil consumption check.Dealer said they take 25K before they stop using oil. Sounds like a bunch of crap to me??? Has anyone else had this problem or been this route? Any ideas on what the fix might be?

i had oil comsumption issues with my 2007 a3 but that was because of its turbochager.. it was a 2.0T

it is very unsual for an a6... make sure the dealer comes with good solutions before your car's warranty expires.

With that much oil usage I'd look for a leak. The dealer told me 1 qt per 1000 miles was "normal" for my old B5 S4...then they eventually discovered it was leaking from the valve covers. I currently consume 0.5 - 1 qt per 5k miles on my '08 A6 which seems more inline with what should be normal consumption.
