Default Oops... wrong(?) transmission fluid

From the "I sear I looked at that closely" files:

Changing fluid in my 2006 A6 3.2 Trans code HWD with 303,000 miles on it... yeah I know... "lifetime fill"... Yup 300,000+ miles on that chassis.

Anyway, through a series of mistakes that only old eyes can make I'm certain I filled it (well my son) filled it with the wrong fluid.

From what I learned it should have the "brown" (or is that really yellow) fluid in it given the HWD transmission code. And that should correspond to:
G 055 005 A2

But I blew it and ordered and filled (I'm really trying to own this...) it with:
G 055 025 A2

So... how bad is that???

Anyone have any details other than: Pump it all out! PUMP IT ALL OUT NOW! ...its dead Jim.

Oh and on a three mile test drive it was greatly improved.

A couple of bits of information.

It appears that the 025 is for transverse applications of the 6-speed triptronic and Q7. Not sure why that makes a difference -- anyone know???

Also, when using google looking for the 005 fluid -- the first shopping options google presents from two VERY popular euro/audi parts houses are for the 025 fluid: FCP and BLAU.

I'm now blaming a portion on this FUBAR on google, mostly myself, but google is linking to the wrong fluid.

...or is it the right fluid? A friend of mine and fellow Audi owner thinks the 025 is just a heavier weight than the 005, and actually may be a BETTER choice in a tranny with 300,000 plus miles on it. Well, yeah mate, perhaps, but it isn't your ride...

Hi

So here are my basic thoughts. Oil comes in different viscosity. Helps lubricate, clean and cool the moving parts. Put an oil that is too thick into an engine, can block thin oil senders, won't allow the engine to cool/perform optimally. Oil pump may have issues pushing thicker oil around. Same token, too thin, engine will wear out faster and greater potential to over heat. This won't be an issue with small variances going from eg: 5/30 to 10/30

Now saying that, you put in transmission fluid, both types you mentioned, are transmission fluid. What is there viscosity, I don't know. Do the two different transmission have different parts that could corrode with the type you put in?: likely not. eg: GL5 vs gl4 tranny fluid not good due to brass being eaten by gl5.

30-40% of the tranny fluid is housed in the torque converter. What you've added only got further diluted with the old stuff. Just me but unless you plan to keep the car longer, despite high milage, I'd leave it.

Long winded answer I know, but may help clarify
